How to recognise members of The Lieutenancy of Kent

You can recognise the Lord Lieutenant, Vice Lord Lieutenant and some of the Deputies from the uniform worn on formal occasions.

It is based on the Number 1 dress uniform worn by general officers of the Army - a symbol of the office's military origin.

In civilian dress on official occasions Kent's Deputy Lieutenants wear a badge of office unique to the County. Its distinctive feature is the diamond or lozenge-shape of the pendant that carries the County's rearing white horse emblem above the motto: Invicta.
